O padrão traz, teoricamente, alguns benefícios entre eles um design que facilita a passagem do fluxo de ar, fazendo com que a refrigeração seja melhor.</p> <p>Quando foi lançado, todos achavam que ele realmente traria muitas melhorias, o problema foi que as indústrias continuaram a produzir normalmente placas-mãe no formato ATX, sem diminuir o ritmo para começar a migrar para BTX. Hoje ainda são poucas as placas-mãe produzidas no formato BTX e já existe uma uma quantidade razoável de gabinetes nesse mesmo formato. O problema é que enquanto a indústria não começar a “empurrar” o padrão, todos continuarão a comprar placas ATX.</p> <p>A Intel publicou um balanço da tecnologia. Os números são otimistas, segundo a empresa 24% dos computadores vendidos no primeiro semestre de 2006 foram BTX. A idéia é chegar a 36% até o final do ano. O que está acontecendo é que muitas montadoras de PCs já estão adotando o padrão, porém os números prevêem que somente 5% dos usuários que montarão seu próprio computador até o final do ano usarão o padrão BTX.</p> <p>Os números já são bem interessantes em se tratando dos montadores de PCs baseados na plataforma Intel, 92% dos desktops da Dell, 98% dos Gateway e 65% dos Lenovo já estão saindo de fabrica no padrão BTX.
